A Glimpse into Our “New” Home

The renovation work is finally completed today. The painter came in for a final touch up and left in the afternoon. We are very happy with the result of the renovation and finally more spacious home was presented to us.

We never have storage problem before Yvette was born. We are staying in a 5 rooms flat and we have 2 spare rooms for ourselves even my FIL is living with us. We actually had planned to renovate our existing two years ago. But the “unexpected” pregnancy shelved the plan. (I didn’t expect to get pregnant as we were trying for 5 years with No news.)

When Yvette was born, most of the times, our house was in the mess. Things are a bit here and there. We have brought too many things and left with too little space. We have to spend a lot of time just to manage those things around. We don’t want Yvette to grow up in a messy environment too. With that we decided to go ahead for the long overdue renovation.

We received a lot of help during this period. We are thankful my SIL offer us to stay at her place during the most difficult stage of renovation. We are grateful that my niece’s boyfriend had driven us or I to IKEA and some other places to buy things related to the renovation.

It’s a hectic two months after the renovation contract was signed in July. Plenty of packing and co-ordination work. Both of us are totally worn out. And my health is still not back to pink. I have still having cough and flu every now and then. Nevertheless, we are enjoying the fruit of our labour now.

We hacked away the existing wall and built a glass door. This will give some empowerment to Yvette to access the dry kitchen.

We changed the glass door to clear glass to bring in more sunlight and revamp the balcony again.

The living hall is so spacious without coffee table.

P/S: Our house is still not as neat as I want it to be. There are some unpacked boxes hanging around in the living hall and the spare room.
