I love celery but I don’t like to eat it when it is really soft. I like its crunchy texture and distinctive flavour.
Celery is an excellent source of vitamin C, a vitamin that helps to support the immune system. Celery is so low in calories is because it is so high in water content. Celery can provide a sense of calmness. It can also help lower blood pressure. People with gout should be fans of celery because it lowers uric acid. Drinking fresh celery juice is said to reduce appetite. Taken before a meal it may help with weight loss. It is high in calcium too.
So how to introduce celery to baby when it is so chunky?
Dou Gan (Bean curb) with vegetables.
Celery (Half stalk)
Peas (Remove skin)
Cauliflower (1 little stalk)
1. Finely chopped celery using chopper
2. Steam celery with all the ingredients.
3. Once cook. Remove all ingredients from plate and pour them into blender and puree them. (Remove the skin of tomato)
4. Note: To encourage baby to chew, don’t puree bean curb. Just chop into small pieces will do.
