Math-ness In Progress #3.1

A standard was set honestly. We are now having much higher expectation on Yvette, especially on her Maths.

I continue to coach her. Stretch her talent and potential further. I got this book from Popular and most of the questions are not difficult to her. But then, there will be some area, reinforcement is still needed. Some of the topics I have yet covered, thus from this book I could identify her weakness, her careless and as well identify her potential.

We are impressed with her ability in doing all these by herself. Of course, for some questions, we did explain a bit to her and ultimately it is still her effort getting the answer right.

She completed the above book before she turned 37 mths. All was done during the period after her 3rd birthday.

We don’t teach her triangle anymore. We taught her to identify Right Angle Triangle.

Topics that she is weak in.

Money. I have not went thru this subject with her. The below question looks so easy yet she make careless mistake. I am surprise she couldn’t really understand.

Mass and division. Not very sure for now.

Again we surprised she got this wrong. Either she forgotten what she had learnt or it a careless mistake.

Books Yvette Read in May 2011

Bear with me, I am trying to update my sites with more milestones entries. Thus it will be all about learning & reading. I can’t do much honestly due to my working commitment, housework and my health. Thus, I really depend a lot on reading and D will help to expand Yvette’s knowledge by explaining to her. Luckily Yvette is actually a versatile person – No fix learning style for Yvette. Yvette can be Auditory, Visual and Kinaesthetic learner.

Yvette fall in love with Margaret Wild book. Simple sentence structure and rich illustration won her heart. Somehow I just couldn’t find Piglet and Mama from the library.

And most importantly, she learn Billion is a 1 with 9 zeros!

I skipped Level 2 of Ladybug reading series. Yvette has totally no problem reading these books with me and she could even answers the questions about the book at the back of the book. A foundation had set for her comprehension.

Lastly, for Chinese, we are reading the last few books of 皮皮狗.

Parts Of The Fish

I did this with Yvette on 26th May 2011. It is our third mini book learning.

I got the idea from here. (And I made this myself.) It is actually Montessori learning.

I notice this site doesn’t offer much. I manage to find this site and this. I really keen to buy the material from there mainly due to time consuming making our own material and because I find Yvette can learn very fast from this method.

It been awhile for me not recording Yvette’s development in video. I record this today and will like to share it here.

In the video, you could tell Yvette did try making effort to reinforce her learning by repeating pronouncing words that she doesn’t know.
