Ninth Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Numbering the number of babes in class and singing all the “welcome song”.

Letter T

The puppet introduced was Tiger.

Words associated with letter are Tiger, tambourine and the number tenth. (A repetitive session.)

Story-telling and Zoo phonics followed by.

Water Break time (5-10mins)

Mandarin Play

3 activities were done and 2 songs were taught today. The 2 songs were repeat session.

The third activity, I think is not a bad try but I guess babes won’t understand. The teacher gave us “money” and set up a counter to sell the toys to the babes. In short, it’s teaching the concept of buying and selling and money.

Art and craft was next.

Play with paint again… Faintz.

Honestly I don’t really like to do painting in class. Firstly I have dressed Yvette nicely. Secondly, it’s not easy to do with some many babes around. Thirdly, cleaning them is a problem too.

Today we did Tomato Stamping. (Will update the art work when I got it back from them.)

The teachers showed the babes tomato. It was passed around to the babes and let them feel and touch.

Yvette loves it!

In the end, she played with the paint without fail and ended like“flower cat” (花猫).The paint is all over her face, hands and even legs. Fortunately the paint is very easy to remove using water.

Tomato Stamping

There is one pro babe attended the trial class today. Her vocal development is really powerful at the age of 14 months. Her name is Azalea (a flower). She can tell us her name effortlessly. It is such a difficult word to pronounce (at least to me).

Her granny told us, at the age of 4 mths she know how to call papa. At the age of 6-7 she started to greet others. She knows A is for Apple, B is for boy and that can go on and on. 真厉害!

As for Yvette, as expected, not playing much attention but I can’t blame her for that. I have robbed her sleep to attend class. :(

Eighth Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Numbering the number of babes in class and singing all the “welcome song”.

Letter T

The puppet introduced was Tiger.

Words associated with letter are Tiger, toes, and tambourine. The teachers let the babes play the tambourine, but Yvette wasn’t very keen in playing them. I guess it might due to we have one set of tambourine at home and Yvette was already stop playing them.

Confidence Builder Activity and Zoo phonics followed by.

The confidence builder activity:

The teacher taught the babes the body part. Shoulder, toes, elbow, etc together with a song, 10 little toes.

Water Break time (5-10mins)

Mandarin Play

3 songs were taught today. One of them was repeated.

Song 1:  小猫吃鱼accompanied by a cat puppet with a fish and a paper plate.

Song 2: About hand. The teacher gave the kid a star clapper. (Repeat)

Song 3: The teacher gave the babes a “frog” hat. (A paper hat where the pic of frog was stick on to it.) A song was played while we parents have to carry our babes to jump from one petal (a paper petal) to another. (Yvette didn’t like it. She used to like us tossing her high in the air, but now no longer.)

Art and craft was next.

Today we did flower petal arrangement.  And here is her art work.

Flower Petal Arrangement

I have a habit when doing art work with Yvette. I rarely let Yvette sat on the desk to do it together with other babes, unless there is a need. Eg. Like painting. Need to share, can’t do it on the form mat.

Reasons of not letting Yvette doing together with others are:

  1. I want her to concentrate on the art work rather than looking at others.
  2. I want to teach her the materials and feel them rather than get it done quickly.
  3. She can’t sit very well on the table. Sitting on the floor by me holding her hand to do those art work make it more comfortable for her.

Yvette was playful today. She woke up too early today and only got 45 mins nap at noon time.  She kept babbling in class. And some babes responded to her too. So in the end, the whole class was doing baby talking. Even the teachers joined in.  -.-!

Seventh Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Numbering the number of babes in class and singing all the “welcome song”.

Letter S

The puppet introduced was snake.

Words associated with letter S are snake, square and star. Again Yvette got very excited when the teachers were introducing the word “star”!  The teachers took the chance to teach the babes shape; Star and Square and the number of corners of each shape too. (A repetitive session.)

Confidence Builder Activity and Zoo phonics followed by.

The confidence builder activity:

A pail of water was placed in front of babes. Inside the water, there were marbles, pebble, mineral water bottle, mineral water bottle with water and corks. This was to teach the child concept of sinking of floating.

Water Break time (5-10mins)

Mandarin Play

The teacher taught some words; 兔子, 鹅, 羊 together with song and a story. The teacher taught the concept of pulling. She gave us a paper carrot. We have to placed our child on our lap and pull the carrot together with them.

Art and craft was next.

We were given dough and let the babes played with it. We have to squeeze it, roll it, and step on it. The babes had to step on it as we are making their footprint using the dough. Yvette dislikes the feeling; stepping on it. I guess she didn’t like due to the wet sensation of the dough. And this is her ugly footprint!

Sixth Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Letter S

The puppet introduced was snake.

Words associated with letter S are sock, sun and star. Yvette got very excited when the teachers were introducing the word “star”!

Story telling time and Zoo phonics followed by.

Ops, I need to add something.

I have missed out telling everyone they do teach the babes number. Immediately the class starts, usually they will count the number of babes attending the class and write the number on the white board. Spelling of the number will be taught too and they will illustrate the number with “numbers of apples, stars, etc” by drawing them on the white board.

Today, the Mandarin Play was not boring. The teacher repeated what she taught before.

Art and craft session again.

The teachers taught the concept of sea to the babes. I think this is interesting. They used the blue colouring to add to the water in the mineral water bottle. The colour changed. Then you need to add those leaves, paper seahorse, starfish and fish to the water. With all these, it forms the underwater world.

As we left home very early today, Yvette was actually very sleepy on our way to class. I was so worried she might fell asleep and missed the class totally. She was restless in today class, I guess she was sleepy. She fell asleep while we were having our dinner in Novena Square.

I have withdrawn Yvette from the next term as planned. I need to follow up with JGC to secure her sit in next term.
