Thirteen Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Numbering the number of babes in class and singing all the “welcome song”.

Letter V

The puppet introduced was Vincent Vampire Bat. (A repetitive session.)

Words associated with letter are Vegetable and Violin.

Story-telling and Zoo phonics followed by.

Water Break time (5-10mins)

Mandarin Play was right after the break.

A relief teacher taught the followings:

  1. 伦敦大桥垮下来
  2. 小手拍 (with a hand clapper)
  3. “Fishing” Activity. The teacher placed the fish at everywhere in the room. We and the babes need to get that fish and put them back to the basket.

Art and craft was next.

The class was small today. 3 boys were not here. Our usual class size is 9. So all the 6 babes sat together in one table and do the craft together.

Yvette was playful. Her eyes brighten up and her hands started to move toward the glue. In less than a minute, her hands were full of glue. So I pressed her hand onto the paper instead of using the brush. I helped her hand with the paper string and pasted over the drawing paper. We were making paper collage.

Music and movement was the last activity before we bid goodbye.

Yvette rest well this afternoon despite she had another class in the morning. Teacher Aida asked me did Yvette rest well when we entered the class. Haha. I was laughing. I told her I am not sure will she make a fuss later. Anyway, Teacher Aida assured me Yvette is doing pretty well. Yvette, sometimes is merely playful. I can see Yvette is getting comfortable with what she is doing in GUG. Today she moved around the entire room freely without having me with her. I used my “free time” to catch up with Jennifer (Janielle’s mum). It’s too bad the timing of this class collide with Yvette’s nap time. I start to feel sad that I have not extended another term for Yvette. :S

Twelfth Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Numbering the number of babes in class and singing all the “welcome song”.

Letter V

The puppet introduced was Vincent Vampire Bat.

Words associated with letter are Vegetable and Vase.

Today, they altered the sequent of their programs.

Confidence Builder was next.

The teachers held a pole horizontally with some paper streamers. The babes got to stand under the pole to grab them off the pole. This activity trains the babes balancing skill.

A good activity for Yvette as currently she was still trying to balance herself day by day.

Mandarin Play followed by.

Today the teacher taught the followings:

  1. Old Macdonald had a farm. She also imitating the sound made by the animals she shown to the babes.
  2. She let the babes played with 铃铛。 This was accompanied with a song called YiBiYa.
  3. She flashed flash card to the babe in a form of circle shape.

There was one more activity but I have no impression for it. Anyway, the above activities, she had taught the babes before during all her previous sessions.

Water Break time (5-10mins)

Zoo phonics followed by immediately after the break.

Baby gym was the highlight of the today lesson. It’s new to us.

It taught us the concept; Middle lateral.

We have to lay our babes down onto the mat and hold their hands and legs. We have to use the left hand to touch the right knee and use the right hand to touch the left knee. The teacher claimed this is a good form of exercise for their left and right brain. And we should have done it with our baby daily. Hmmm should I do it with Yvette tomorrow? Anyway most of the babes were really unwillingly to co-operate in this activity. Some were crying too. As for Yvette, of course she did not abide by my action. So she was pulled away the mat.

The next activity was a crawling activity.  This was just merely to have fun (at least to me). Although Yvette likes to crawl a lot but she dislikes the idea to crawl in the tunnel.  She never did this as well. Our role model today is no other babes but our baby Janielle. She was so spontaneous. She started to crawl in the tunnel when her mum placed her there. Not all babes like it too.

Yvette wasn’t very attentive today. Partially I guess she was still feeling worn-out by this morning activity. She rubbed her eyes a lot today although she had 2 hours nap before the class. We left the class 10 minutes earlier.

There are another 4 lessons to go before this term ends.

Counting down!

Eleventh Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Numbering the number of babes in class and singing all the “welcome song”.

Letter U

The puppet introduced was Umbrella Bird. (A repetitive session.)

Words associated with letter are Umbrella, under and unhappy. The teachers’ idea was really “spur-of-the-moment”! Teacher Ash crawls under the table to show the babes the concept of under. Thumb up for Teacher Ash.

Story-telling and Zoo phonics followed by.

Water Break time (5-10mins)

Mandarin Play (15mins)

2 songs and 1 activity were taught today.

Songs taught were 伦敦大桥垮下来 and 拔萝卜。 (Repeated)

This activity is new to us.

The teacher placed a big pillow and a ball in the middle of the class. We were required to carry our babes swing/jump over the pillow and placed our babes on the ball, rolled them over. Most babes enjoyed it very much. Yvette was little scare over the rolling part.

After the mandarin play, the teacher taught the babes the concept of kicking. But most babes were throwing the ball instead. Yvette, couldn’t stand by herself, I placed the ball near her leg and demonstrated the action of kicking by me holding her leg.

Parachute Play was next.

We have to place our babes on the parachute and lift up the parachute. Initially most babes co-operated but very soon, they started to worry about it. In the end only Baby Janielle aka The Female Warrior won the battle. Haha… she is really brave. She is exactly one month older than Yvette and most of the times she enjoy activities even the old babes weren’t really dare to take the bite.

Today class was full of fun. A lot of activities involve physical movement. Not only making the babes tired, we were tired too.

Tenth Lesson with GUG

Today Yvette learnt the following:

Numbering the number of babes in class and singing all the “welcome song”.

Letter U

The puppet introduced was Umbrella Bird.

Words associated with letter are Umbrella and Up

Zoo phonics followed by.

Water Break time (5-10mins)

Mandarin Play

We totally missed this session. Yvette pooped at the wrong time.

When we are back from the changing room, the teachers taught the babes the concept of heavy and light. They used a pebble, a ping ball and a pain of water to illustrate the idea.  After the illustration, the babes had water play with the balloons.

Actually we missed a lot from today class.

Yvette only nap at 2.15pm. I never wanted to wake her up till 4.15pm. The weather was extremely nice in the afternoon due to raining. But I also don’t want to waste my hubby money so I robbed her sleep again. I woke her up at 4.15 pm. We took a cab to GUG and reached around 4.40 pm. It was raining but we got a cab almost immediately when I was along the road side waiting.  And of course fortunately my house was not too far away from united square, made our journey easier.

I noticed there were increases of babes in today class. There are more and more familiar faces. And I would say this class we attended has more mummies than maids. I always catch up with one mummy during the break time. It is nice to bring our child to attend class and we got to know and share experiences with other mummies around.

I haven’t got a confirmed slot for Yvette in JGC although they claimed they were to call me soon. (I have registered with them months ago.) I think I still need to follow up with them closely. Meanwhile, I hope Yvette will continue to enjoy her “stay” with GUG.
