Month In Review – March & Goals For Apr 2011

P/S: You might want to read why I started to record this entry monthly here.

March seemed to be the busiest and the longest month ever. There are many things I wanted to do, I planned to do but it remain undone at the end of the month. And when I tried to recap now (13/04/2011 – another back dated post), I find so hard to recall even with pictures.

1. What were the major event/s for the month?

My sister’s wedding.

2. What were the outings we had?

To East Coast Park

3. Anything new things we did or tried?

We went back to Big O Cafe & Restaurant (Paragon) and to try their Chinese food. Ok, Big O is actually served western cuisine but then inside their menu you could find “Stir-fried Mushroom”, “White Rice”, “Grill Fish”  – Ok I know grill fish is part of western food. But all these combination make good enough to serve Yvette dinner.

Yvette is never a western food lover. Tots at her age loves French Flies, Nuggets, Pizza, chicken wing… she never a big fan. So as we craved for pasta, we need to cater her need too. And then I found Big O suit us.

I love the reflection

12. Family picture for the month of March.

We have a super not co-operative princess in this month. Couldn’t get a nice family picture.

13. Any goals for April?

I guess I barely have time to set up goals thus March went off so fast without much spark in our daily life. It is all about routine. I find working bring me no quality life. Sigh…

小妹出嫁了!- Part 2

My sister’s solemnisation and the lunch buffet banquet was held by the poolside that made Yvette very very excited. The only down side and I feel it extremely lack of thoughts from the hotel, they didn’t build a tent for all the guest to witness the solemnisation. Most of the friends were just standing aside under the shade to witness the most event of the day.

Look at the photo above, you can imagine how hot the weather was.

As for Yvette, she just couldn’t sit still under the sun. I got to “run” after her along the pool. She really really wanted to go into the pool!

We couldn’t take any nice picture of Yvette with the family this round and as well as Yvette with the rest. This is my princess and D.

The lunch started right after the solemnisation and here the door gift for today wedding. I think the door gift is getting more and more useful. A simple wedding and the event ended at 4 plus.

小妹出嫁了!- Part 1

We weren’t early to witness the bridal preparation. When we were there, we saw the groom and his gang were already struggling outside the house.  It really took them awhile to crash down the gate.  Finally they were allowed to get into the house after an hour of negotiation.

Yvette wasn’t in her mood. I believe it was just too early. We got to get out of our bed at 5 plus and Yvette was half an hour later. Thus I certainly believe although her body was awake, her soul was still in her dreamland. (I didn’t even manage to take a nice picture of Yvette in the morning.)

The praying ceremony in the morning went by so swiftly. As my dad wasn’t able to send my sister down, my brother represented my dad to send my sister off. My mum was down there too.

After one and a half hour, sister was back for tea ceremony. Since we have small family, it didn’t took us too long too. In less than half an hour, everything was done. Sister decided to stay put here to change (in order to save time), before she moved to the hotel. The make up article then came by to doll us up too.

Somehow I caught in the same situation when I was being doll up by the article. Yvette was nursed by me at the same time and it was exactly the same during my brother’s wedding. Hmmmm……

Again time passed on quickly.

After my make up was done, we headed home first before proceed to the Park Hotel Clarke Quay. We need to get FIL’s dinner ready before we went for my sister’s solemnisation and the lunch buffet banquet.

Update From CC and Yvette’s Progression For Mar 2011

I received quite a lot of updates from the English Teacher. She started to try to provide weekly update instead of giving us on monthly basis. Of course at the same time she did provide us one monthly update for March itself too.

INQUIRY MOMENTS

Theme: Sounds & Music

They went into details of learning the sounds of various animals, sounds from inside and outside the house. Yvette learnt the different sounds that the favourite pet can produce, as well as farm and zoo animals too. Yvette made mask – she had chosen a sheep and pretended to be her favourite animal while making their sounds with her friends.

The classroom activities taught them to discriminate the sounds that they hear from the surroundings. After they discuss the different sounds from inside the house they went out to have a short trip and investigation about the various sounds that they can hear from outside the house. We enjoyed hearing the “BOOM! BOOM! sound coming from the entrance of the MRT station.

NUMERACY STRATEGIES

The tots counted and sorted out different coloured marbles. It was difficult to sort all the marbles, however, they really enjoyed it and they wanted to play with this sorting and counting game again and again.

Number 6 – They had fun counting and collecting six objects in the classroom such as 6 books, 6 coloured pompoms, and 6 toy cars. They counted and had a discussion about 6 postcards and six stamps. They learnt that postcard is a rectangular piece of thick paper or thin cardboard intended for writing and mailing without an envelope. They colour and cut out six pretend stamps and used them to decorate our postcards that they are going to deliver to our family and friends by hand.

Fun With Phonics

Letters P, I, N – They reinforced our knowledge of the phonetic sounds /s/,
/a/, /t/, /p/, /i/, and /n/ through the classroom games and several storytelling sessions. They sang songs and practiced writing the letters in such a fun way. They enjoyed sticking star-shaped stickers in our letter i as they follow the arrow as a guide in writing the letter correctly. They even used chubby markers in creating a dot in our n. What a fun way of learning how to write the letters!

Picnic at Toa Payoh Courtyard

During the Let’s Play holiday programme, they went out on a sunny day together with the other N1, PG and N2 classes. The teachers brought a ball, a big parachute, and our healthy food and drinks.

Wang Hao Laoshi guided the tots in our warm up exercise after they settled down at our picnic venue. They work on our patience and listening skill as they
pass the ball to their friend while singing the song which has fast and slow parts. Then, they played with the parachute like how they used to play during their enrichment class. They had our much awaited snacks afterward. They proceeded with the letter hunt with the other N1 classes.

The above are updates for the English lesson, here the update from the Chinese Teacher.
