Term 3: Eighth Lesson with JGC

This morning, Yvette woke me up.

Everything went on smoothly this morning. We left home at 10.30 am and reach school at 11 am.

We have a session with all the mummies and grandmas together with the teachers sharing our experiences on choosing the toys and food for our baby. I learnt that if your baby is on organic food, they will be tend to have food allergy when they start to have normal (outside) food when they are older according to Teacher Winnie. I wonder how true it is.

The free play ended at 11.20 am and serious learning kicked off after putting toys away.

Story-telling, Tea Leaf Dough Play and having cookies for snack were all part of the serious learning activities. Outdoor play for 10 mins was next before we bid goodbye with music and movement together with bubbles.

Sam asked me it is useful for bring our child to enrichment school, I guess it will voice down to individual but in my perspective it will be useful if:

  1. Have a budget for the class.
  2. No time to teach your child on your own.
  3. It never easy to teach one child and some activities that only can play in a group.
  4. Even you have allocated time for your child and you do it diligently, your child might lose interest in doing those activities with you alone. (I am not saying home-schooling don’t work.)
  5. It a committed session. You have paid for it. You will definitely go for it even you have no time. Sometimes, you will skip those teaching activity with your child at home if you are too busy with chores. (Just like me. I don’t do those teaching activities I plan with Yvette when I am too busy with housework.)
  6. Rather than using TV, playing education programme to teach, I feel, it will be much better for Yvette to learn in a “class room” environment. (I’m a strong believer of not allowing my baby to any watch TV programme before two.)
  7. Your child can socialize with other kids too, especially if he or she is the only child. And I can meet other caregiver too. I have made some new friends thru bring my child to enrichment classes.
  8. A good reason to get out the house for breath of fresh air.

Sam, have I convinced you to bring your baby to class? :D

Of course, there are some downsides too.

  1. Some babies fall sick after attending the class.
  2. Some babies/toddler making a lot of noise in class and this affect other child.
  3. The cost.
  4. The travelling distance from home to class.

After class, we went down to Scott Isetan for our lunch. This time I used the nursing room instead of using the feeding area. For some unknown reasons, Yvette wanted to be nursed straight after meal recently. I packed my lunch from the supermarket. I love the omelette rice.

Actually I wanted to go to my niece’s working place to have lunch with her. But she missed my call before I packed my lunch. After feeding Yvette, I proceeded to the baby department to get some socks for her. And my niece, Ting, called us just in time. Eventually I still met her for lunch but I ate my packed lunch instead of burger in Carl’s Jr at Far East. And coincidentally we bumped into another niece C, who is her younger sister.

Ting’s boyfriend drove us home after our lunch.
