Term 3: First Lesson with JGC

The term kicks off today.

I set my alarm clock to wake us at 9 this morning and her class is at 11.00 am in the late morning.

Yvette was early this morning due to she slept very early at 8 plus yesterday. So both of us were up and running by 9 am. I bathe her, dressed her and fed her cereal. While bathing her, I turned on the stove and put the vegetable stock I have prepared over the weekend to cook her porridge for her. (Her class ends at 11.30.) I packed up all the stuffs including her porridge, finished my bread and we left home at 10.20 am.

We reached there about 10.50 am and we were stopped by a check point at the escalator to fill up the travel declaration form before we could proceed to the class.

It’s about 8 babies in the class; 2 boys and 6 girls. It’s not a big class though but a lot of us were new to the class. Only 2 babies were from the previous term, most babies moved up to the toddler class.

In JGC, there is theme for every term. This term, they are focusing on transportation. I was given 2 booklets and one list of activities we will be having for 4 weeks.  First booklet is PlayNest & PlayClub Music Book. Second booklet states down some information about Teacher Winnie, special activities in this term, Books for story-telling, Names for vehicles that will be introduced to baby, the art activities, activities for gross-motor skill and lastly an activity recommend for us to do at home. It does list down the sequence of the program too. And it goes like these:

Clean up Time after the 10 mins free play

Welcome songs

Magic Box Time

Story Time

Puppet Show/Activity Time

Snack Time (The snack is provided by JGC)

Outdoor Time

Goodbye (Bubbles)

Misc

Today activity was Sand-sprinkle Art. They colored the sand into orange and purple colour. Interesting! The babies have the chance to touch and play with the sand and sprinkle that sand on a piece of paper.

I think Yvette likes the environment as much as I do. Look at this little chair and table. Isn’t them cute! Haha. Yvette had banana during the Snack Time.

Personally I think I like JGC more than GUG even though they are focusing learning thru play. No ABC in class. And we have a male teacher too. Teacher Winnie shared with me, they don’t studio-type man and woman. As long as this man loves children and love to play with children, JGC don’t mind to have more male teacher.

After the class ended, I brought Yvette to the eater-house at the basement. We had our lunch there. As expected, Yvette still don’t like salmon fish (I have ran out of ingredient), she ate very little. I decided to give Yvette some breast milk and headed to the nursing room. There were only 2 nursing room and both of them were occupied. I waited for 15 mins and still no one came out of the room. I started to wonder what these mummies were doing behind the curtain. I can easily telling while waiting outside, one room with a lot of movement another was so quiet. I decided to peep into the quiet room nearest to me (I know I shouldn’t have done so but I really want to feed Yvette) and to my horror; the mum was sleeping with her toddler. :S

Haiz. After knowing the truth, I have no other choice but to quickly head home. Luckily there is a direct bus that can lead me to my way home in less than 20 mins.

Alas, I missed the bus when I came out the Forum. Argh… I was really down with my luck. The waiting time for this bus is another 15 to 20 mins. While waiting the bus, I bumped into Melissa, my beautician. I invited her to my place since her next client appointment was in the evening. I have a great time catching up with Melissa in the afternoon.

P/S: I catch Yvette’s poop for the first time this afternoon.

A date with Wendy & Baby Ashlyn

Wendy came down with Baby Ashlyn to my place in late afternoon today. It’s nice to see Baby Ashlyn again. She has grown so “big” to me. I only didn’t see her for about a month. (Our last date was at AMK Hub.)

When babies are together, they tend to scratch each other toy, this applied to Ashlyn and Yvette too.  And Yvette was rather cranky today. I zero-ed down to the toilet training we were working on it now. But our babies did have a great time together too.

I always look forward to a play date. Having play date, Yvette will have someone to socialize and I will have someone to talk and share our experiences. Especially now, I am no longer bringing Yvette to neighbors’ place due to I am trying to toilet train Yvette. This week, I have arranged two play dates for us. Another one will be on Wednesday.

Another arena I am interested in, it will be homeschooling in a regular basis with a group of babies/toddlers. I still couldn’t find any for Yvette. If any parents out there are doing it, maybe you could let me know and email me @ sunflower700@gmail.com . I will like to contribute and let my Yvette have fun too.

Wendy and Baby Ashlyn left after Wendy had dinner at my place. I have a great time and we agreed to have the next date at her place. :D

Sensory Park @ Toa Payoh

Dear, I think the park is opened for public. Shall we have a walk at the park? I said that to my hubby when I was clearing the rubbish out of our house. (I have a direct view of this park at the rubbish chute outside my flat.) (This park is less than 5 mins walk from my flat.)

Hubby agreed.

Its 5.30 pm when we decided to take a “peep” of the park. We packed our stuff since we will be heading to my mum’s place for dinner afterwards. I have been looking forward to take evening stroll in this park and longing when it will be opened to the public. (The announcement released in 2007 to build this park while I was expecting Yvette.) (Read more about this park here.)

There were plenty of facilities in the park such as playground, exercise comer for elderly, disable and people like us. When we were at the park, we bumped into our neighbour. They were jogging in the park. I didn’t take a lot of pictures of the park as some of the facilities were still in “final touch-up” condition. And this park is just beside one of the famous hawker centre in Toa Payoh. (Blk 75 @ TPY Lor 5) I bumped into Jennifer who was taking her dinner at the hawker centre with her family.

 Collages

If you are in TPY and you want to visit this park. You can:

  1. Take a bus, (Bus number 73, 88, 157, 159, 163, 231) alight at the bus stop next to Shop & Save or McDonald. Walk cross the road, you will see Blk 66 and Blk 73. Walk to block 66, the park is just at the end of this block.
  2. Walk from HDB hub next to interchange if you want to shop around TPY hub. After your shopping, you will probably find the library somewhere 8 to 10 mins away from HDB hub. (Walk straight from HDB Hub. You will see KFC. Walk further, you will see a coffee shop. Turn left instead of walking toward coffee shop. Walk straight again. You will see Bengawan Solo on your right, a fruit stall on your left.  Turn right and walk a bit more you will see Bata Shoe Store and library is just in front of the store.) Then you will see Shop & Save beside the library too. Once you see Shop & Save, just follow the way as mentioned in number 1.
